RO'MA AT ALBION GALLERY
UPCOMING EXHIBITION IN LONDON: RO'MA AT ALBION GALLERY
written by Don Porcella and Peter Duhon in New York
Here at Art Comments we are extremely excited to announce an amazing exhibition opening in London (NYC's twin city) this January 16 at Albion, a unique collaboration between two artists, Rosemarie Trockel and Marcus Lüpertz, associated with the highly acclaimed Kunstakademie Düsseldorf – The Dusseldorf Art Academy, which some consider as the leading art university in Germany and has produced many German masters as well as attracted famous teachers to its faculty. Some of the artists associated with the Dusseldorf Art Academy reads like a who's who of German Art (Paul Klee, Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, Jörg Immendorff, Thomas Ruff, Rosemarie Trockel, A.R. Penck and the "artist prince" Markus Lüpertz, director of the academy.)
What makes this exhibition unique is the juxtaposition of two vastly different approaches:
1. Trockel's work attempts to initiate conceptual dialogue, along the school of thought championed by Marcel Duchamp.
2. Lüpertz’s work is on the opposite end of the spectrum, communicating and expressing through aesthetic, painterly and pictorial means.

Scope Art Fair 2006: Miami Beach
"it was Scope that served up the best and most playful energy, both inside and out." - BEN DAVIS, ArtNet Magazine
I noticed today while on the website www.artnet.com that they actually used one of my photographs when describing the Scope Art Fair that took place in Miami Beach this past December. As a side yet rather profound note, I served as the official photographer for Scope and not only am I extremely honored to have served that function, I have some great memories from that weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the art but also the world-class staff which I learned a tremendous amount from. My warmest thanks to the entire Scope staff.
Here's the links to access all of the photos I took for Scope during the weekend:

Modernity and Fashion
"He (the artist) makes it his business to extract from fashion whatever element it may contain of poetry within history, distil the external from the transitory." Charles Baudelaire, The Painter of Modern Life

Nature-Metaphors
"Metaphors come of love rather than of thought. They arise in the heart as vapors; they gather themselves together in the brain as shapes; they then emerge from lip, from pen, from brush, from chisel, from violin, as full works, as creations, as Art." - Sidney Lanier, Music and Poetry
